Arrival in Tanzania – Kilimanjaro Airport

Day 1
Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Your journey begins in the lush western rainforest. Keep an eye out for the rare black-and-white Colobus monkeys.

Elevation : 2,100m to 2,650m
Overnight: mti mkubwa camp
Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
A steady climb out of the forest and onto the edge of the vast Shira Plateau. You arrive early to begin your acclimatization process

Overnight: shira 1 camp
Day 3
Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
A gentle trek across the ancient Shira caldera. This “easy” day is vital for your body’s adjustment to high altitude while enjoying views of Mount Meru.

Elevation : 3,500m to 3,850m
Overnight: shira 2 camp
Day 4
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Wall
The classic “Climb High, Sleep Low” day. You’ll reach the volcanic Lava Tower before descending into the valley of giant Senecios.
Distance : 12km | 6-7 hours
Elevation : 3,850m to 4.600m to 3900m
Overnight: barranco camp
Day 5
Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp
Conquer the famous Barranco Wall, It’s a fun scramble (no technical skills needed) that rewards you with the best views on the mountain.
Distance : 6km | 4-5 hours
Elevation : 3900m to 3995m

Day 6
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
A shorter trekking day to ensure you are well-rested. Arrive at “High Camp” early to prepare for your midnight summit attempt

Day 7
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
The ultimate challenge. Reach the “Roof of Africa” at sunrise for an emotional celebration before descending into the heather zone

Day 8
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
A final steady walk through the rainforest to receive your summit certificates. Your Wild Empire Discovery driver will be waiting to take you back for a celebratory dinner.
