Arrival in Tanzania – Kilimanjaro Airport

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), Wild Empire Discovery provides seamless private transfers to your hotel. Relax and enjoy the sunset before meeting your professional guide for a comprehensive briefing and gear check to ensure you are fully prepared for the journey ahead

Day 1

Lemosho Gate to Mti mkubwa Camp

Your adventure begins in the lush Lemosho Glades. This zone is famous for its wildlife; keep your camera ready for Colobus monkeys and exotic birdlife

Distance : 7km | 3-4hrs

Elevation :  2,100m to 2,650m

Overnight: mti mkubwa camp

Day 2

Mti Mkubwa  Camp to Shira 2

A long, beautiful trek out of the forest and across the Shira Plateau. You will bypass Shira 1 to settle directly into the high moorland with stunning views of the Kibo peak.

Distance :  14km | 7-8 hours

Elevation :  2,650m to 3,850m

Overnight: shira 2 camp

Day 3

Shira 2 Camp  – Lava Tower – Barranco Wall

Today is for acclimatization. You’ll climb to the volcanic “Lava Tower” before descending into the Barranco Valley, home to the ancient, alien-looking Giant Senecio plants.

Distance :  12km | 6-7hours

Elevation :  3,850m to 4.600m to 3900m

Overnight: barranco camp

Day 4

 Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp

Conquer the famous Barranco Wall, It’s a fun scramble (no technical skills needed) that rewards you with the best views on the mountain.

Distance :  6km | 4-5 hours

Elevation : 3900m to 3995m

Overnight: karanga camp

Day 5

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

 A shorter trekking day to ensure you are well-rested. Arrive at “High Camp” early to prepare for your midnight summit attempt

Distance :  4km | 3-4 hours

Elevation : 3995m to 4673m

Overnight: barafu camp

Day 6

Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp

The ultimate challenge. Reach the “Roof of Africa” at sunrise for an emotional celebration before descending into the heather zone

Distance :  16km | 10-12hours

Elevation : 4673m to 5895m to 3100m

Overnight: mweka camp

Day 7

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

A final descent through the forest. Receive your summit certificate and enjoy a celebratory farewell with your Wild Empire Discovery mountain crew.
